Education in the Division of Amphibians and Reptiles
The MSB Division of Amphibians and Reptiles provides a wide variety of opportunities to get involved in research and education. These opportunities range from volunteer programs (for high-school students and beyond) and independent study (usually for college credit) to undergraduate student employment and graduate and post-doctoral projects.
Volunteers at the division contribute through diverse tasks and projects while learning a variety of topics, including specimen preparation, museum curatorial techniques and field studies in biology. Independent study usually involves a particular project developed to complement other undergraduate courses at UNM, while student employees are trained in all aspects of specimen preparation and curation in addition to opportunities to learn amphibian and reptile biology. Graduate and post-doctoral projects are coordinated on an individual basis.
