PICANTE!

Overview The Challenge Partners Peppers Team Science Education

The PICANTE Challenge...

... Is to develop a proactive (predictive) model to integrate diverse data from pathogens, wild hosts, and the changing human/environment interfaces. We propose to leverage

  • samples and informatics from biodiversity infrastructure.
  • high-throughput pathogen screening pipelines
  • informatics networks to identify high-risk pathogens, and social, environmental, biological features contributing to pandemic risk
  • interface signatures allow generalizable predictions, real-time geovisualization, and international scalability for action in communities and in the policy arena.
  • modeling approaches (genomic, geo-spatial, mathematical and agent based) to interpret, analyze and communicate data from vast biorepositories to predict the next pandemic.
  • the DAMA protocol (document, assess, monitor, and act)
