Graduate Education Opportunities

A primary strength of the Museum of Southwestern Biology is the numerous graduate students and post-doctoral associates that have been trained over the past six decades. Each division immerses these colleagues in studies that fall under the broad umbrella of natural history, including systematics, molecular biology, morphology, and web-based informatics. MSB continues to hold a leading role in graduate education at UNM by ensuring that museum-based graduate students conduct cutting-edge research, then obtain competitive professional positions, and eventually assume leadership roles in their respective fields. A large percentage of graduate dissertations in Biology, Anthropology and elsewhere on campus used MSB specimens as a basis for their studies, demonstrating the significant research infrastructure embodied by these irreplaceable collections.
